From start to finish, Devin Booker was a positive contributor during the Phoenix Suns' 120-111 win over the Dallas Mavericks. He dismantled the Cooper Flagg-led squad and kept it coming throughout the whole 48 minutes of this game. No one knows how hard it is to achieve that in a night more than Mavs head coach and NBA legend Jason Kidd.
Phoenix star gets some recognition
Booker has been in the NBA for over a decade now. So, his experience in leading the Suns to big wins is nothing new. It was on display against the Mavs and Coach Kidd could not help but drop some praise for him, via Dwain Price of NBA.com.
"Devin’s game has always grown, and he’s always added something in the summer. Being a playmaker, he causes a problem. He’s one of the best players in the world. When he has two guys that he can, one that he can beat and someone has to help, his ability to find others is at a high level right now," the Dallas head coach said.
The Suns saw Booker run their offense for 32 minutes and not a single second was put to waste. He knocked down seven out of his 16 shots from the field with a 42.85% clip from beyond the arc to score 19 points. More than just getting the ball inside the hoop, the 11-year NBA veteran was facilitating the Suns offense. He dished out six assists in a great show of unselfishness.
Booker was also not a slouch on the defensive side of the ball. He notched two steals to give the Suns momentum when the Mavs was trying to come back into the game. Moreover, he also had four rebounds to close out the game.
It is no surprise that Booker has found his way to impact the game in more ways than just scoring. This allowed guys like Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, Royce O'Neale, Mark Williams, Oso Ighodaro, and Ryan Dunn to score 10 or more points for the Suns. The win against Kidd and Flagg's Mavericks gets Phoenix in striking distance to usurp the Minnesota Timberwolves for the sixth-seed in the Western Conference standings.
With one of the best players in the world in their roster, the Suns could make a shockingly deep NBA Playoffs run this year.
