Liam Rosenior will be amongst some familiar faces when he takes charge of Chelsea’s next away trip in the FA Cup.
The new manager’s Blues career started off in this competition with the 5-1 win at Charlton, and it is lower-league opposition on the menu again in the form of Hull City.
Both Rosenior and summer signing Liam Delap spent time at Hull before making it at Stamford Bridge, with the boss being appointed in 2022.

He would enjoy a very successful tenure at the club, and would be nominated for the manager of the year accolade at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Why Liam Rosenior was controversially sacked by Hull
Enzo Maresca was another candidate nominated for this award, the season before he was given the job at Stamford Bridge, however while he was poached for his good work, Rosenior lost his job for a different reason.
According to BBC Sport back in 2024, Hull made the decision to sack the Englishman due to them just missing out on a place in the playoffs in that season.
This is despite the Tigers finishing 15th the season before, and showing clear signs of improvement with the now-Chelsea boss at the helm.
Hull would be left to regret their decision too, with them only just staying in the division with their replacement manager in charge last season.

Rosenior fond of time at Hull
When speaking about his upcoming opponents in the FA Cup, the Chelsea manager had nothing but good things to say.
Chelsea fans – was Rosenior to blame, or was it the players? 😤
Chelsea failed to hold on to a 2-0 lead over Leeds.
He said to Football London: “Firstly, Hull City is very special to me. My grandma was a season ticket holder. The club means a lot to me for many different reasons.
“Without Hull, without the experience as a player and manager, I wouldn’t be sat here. I had some amazing times there. It’s great to see them doing so well in the league. It’s going to be an emotional one for me to go back.”
The gaffer has also stated he will not be heavily rotating his side, however will surely look to hand Cole Palmer a rest as he continues to rebuild to full fitness.
