Marc Cucurella was surprisingly substituted at half-time in yesterday’s game against Leeds United, with young Jorrel Hato coming on to replace him.
It was a confusing change at the time — and it’s hard not to imagine that things would’ve gone a bit better in the second half if Cucu were still on the pitch — but afterwards, head coach Liam Rosenior revealed that our key left back had “felt something” in his hamstring. And it’s never a good thing that they feel in those cases, is it?
It’s not been 24 hours since then, so unsurprisingly, we do not have any specific updates on Cucurella’s condition. And that’s not a good thing either, with Rosenior only hopeful that the news will not be too bad. Next up it’s only an FA Cup match on Friday, but after that it’s back to the Premier League grind (and the Champions League knockout rounds).
> “For Marc, it’s too early to know. Obviously, he’s definitely out for the game against Hull. We’re just doing our scans and assessments on him and hopefully he’s not too long.”

Cucurella had missed a couple games around the new year with a hamstring twinge already (with Malo Gusto deputizing), but otherwise, he’s been very durable despite being among the team-leaders in minutes played over the past couple seasons. Dependable and available are a great combination so hopefully that doesn’t start changing for him.
