Drake Maye and the New England Patriots suffered a disappointing end to what was a magical 2025-26 NFL season, falling to the Seattle Seahawks with a 29-13 final score in the Super Bowl.
Maye, who finished as the runner-up in this year’s MVP voting, didn’t live up to expectations in his first Super Bowl appearance. The second-year quarterback committed three turnovers: two interceptions and one fumble. The majority of his 295 passing yards and both of his passing touchdowns came in fourth-quarter garbage time.
While Maye didn’t perform to his standards on Sunday night, he still has the support of his wife: Ann Michael Maye.
“Not how we wanted it to end but still thanking God for this incredible season,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “We are blessed to be surrounded by such an amazing group of people, who made this season what it was. This is only the beginning!!”
Drake and Ann Michael got married in June 2025. During a press conference on Tuesday, the 23-year-old signal caller said he’s most looking forward to spending time with his wife this offseason.
“This offseason - I got a wife now, I have a beautiful wife. I look forward to spending this offseason with my wife. That is kind of my first thought. That is going to be the highlight of my offseason, I can tell you that,” Maye said.
Maye experienced a breakout season in Year 2. Through 17 regular-season games, the former No. 3 overall draft pick completed a league-best 72% of his pass attempts for 4,384 yards, 31 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
Maye received a pain-killing injection in his injured right throwing just before Sunday’s Super Bowl LX matchup.
“I definitely need time off - nothing that needs anything to be done,” Maye said of his injury. “Just time away and time to get some rest and just time away from football.”
