A total of 319 draft prospects have officially received invitations to the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine, which starts on Monday, February 23, and runs through Monday, March 2. Specialists, defensive linemen, and linebackers will work out on Thursday, followed by defensive backs and tight ends on Friday, quarterbacks, wide receivers, and running backs on Saturday, and offensive linemen on Sunday. Highlighting one of the most intriguing prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft is John Carroll standout wide receiver Tyren Montgomery.
For a quick refresher, Tyren Montgomery originally committed to LSU in 2019 to play basketball, but left and returned home, where he began showcasing his receiving skills in his backyard. His highlight reels helped him join a flag football team in Miami that competed in Las Vegas, and he briefly enrolled at Houston as a walk-on in 2020, but was unsuccessful due to the pandemic. Montgomery did not give up and spent 2022 and 2023 with Nicholls State. He transferred to John Carroll University in 2024, dominating the competition through 2025 while earning First Team All-OAC and First Team All-American honors. He was invited to the Senior Bowl, where he stood out, mossing Division I defensive backs and has since risen on draft boards.

46 wide receivers were invited to the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine, excluding Tyren Montgomery. Since John Carroll University and Division III schools usually don’t hold Pro Days, and general managers, scouts, head coaches, and assistant coaches typically don’t attend in large numbers, it’s unclear whether he will be able to showcase his abilities one last time before the 2026 NFL Draft. However, Montgomery may be able to participate in a nearby Division I school’s Pro Day, potentially Cincinnati’s.

The guy that proved he’s an NFL player no more than a couple weeks ago gets snubbed bc he’s not a D1 player – Nasty work. Montgomery is gonna make a GM very happy this draft cycle

They’d rather have cone P4 backups!

NFL combine messing up

Can they invite guys postemptively? I swear someone big got an invite last year or before after backlash they didn’t get an invite
— Erick “Da” Costa (@UtMadden) February 11, 2026
Yeah that’s a disappointing miss

Feels like one of those guys that teams intentionally leave off to keep the buzz down, but that seems too far gone post senior bowl
— Chuckie Sullivan (@Tackleshaft24) February 11, 2026
Yeah whoever runs the combine is embarrassing.
— Kevin Brown (@bigbrownCLE) February 11, 2026
Combine is a joke now. Senior Bowl is more practical anyway. Running in underwear, while guys hold stop watches, doesn’t do anything for you on Sundays.

Montgomery didn’t get one???

A ton of these names should 100% be in Indy.
