Warrant Sweep In Newark Nets Arrests For Assault, Robbery, Stalking: Police

NEWARK, NJ — Newark police arrested several wanted suspects accused of violent crimes during a recent warrant sweep, authorities announced Wednesday.

“Our team of detectives, from the Newark Police Intelligence Division/Fugitive Section, is committed to bringing suspects with warrants to justice,” Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. said.

The Newark Department of Public Safety released a list of arrests that were made in the city throughout January. They include:

Saeed Dawes, 28, of Irvington, was arrested on January 15, 2026. He was wanted for two counts of aggravated assault (shooting), unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, criminal mischief, conspiracy, and certain persons prohibited from weapon possession.

Riyad Mohammed, 26, of Irvington, was apprehended on January 15, 2026. He faces charges of conspiracy, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon (gun), and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Damon R. Devlin Jr., 52, of Irvington, was arrested on January 19, 2026. He was wanted on charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of prohibited weapons, and certain persons prohibited from weapon possession.

John A. Cedano, 29, of Bayonne, was arrested on January 5, 2026. He was being sought for two counts of aggravated assault, conspiracy, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Ayanna N. Clinton, 25, of Bayonne, was arrested on January 5, 2026. She was wanted on charges of aggravated assault and conspiracy.

Tynajah D. Lyons-Peppers, 25, of Newark, was arrested on January 5, 2025. She was being sought on charges of aggravated assault and conspiracy.

Marshall D. Bunion, 33, of Newark, was arrested on January 7, 2026. He was wanted on charges of aggravated assault and burglary.

Kenyah Carney, 42, of Newark, was arrested on January 7, 2026. She was being sought on charges of unlawful possession of a weapon (brass knuckles), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and aggravated assault.

Yakilsy Anziani De La Rosa, 18, of Passaic, was arrested on January 9, 2026. She was wanted on charges of robbery, aggravated assault, criminal restraint, terroristic threats, and conspiracy.

Eric Oppong, 38, of Newark, was arrested on January 12, 2026. He was being sought on charges of robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), and carjacking.

Sean P. Mitchell, 56, of Newark, was arrested on January 12, 2026. He was wanted on charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon (knife), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and terroristic threats.

Taquaan L. Peace, 36, of Newark, was arrested on January 20, 2026. Police were seeking him on three counts of stalking, three counts of theft, criminal mischief, two counts of terroristic threats, burglary, two counts of violation of a restraining order, aggravated assault, two counts of residential burglary, misuse of 911, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and certain persons prohibited from weapon possession.

Valentina Gomez, 19, of Wharton, NJ, was arrested on January 20, 2026. She was wanted on charges of robbery, terroristic threats, conspiracy, criminal restraint, and aggravated assault.

Wernick Goncalves Marques, 26, of Newark, was arrested on January 21, 2026. He was being sought by police on charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and terroristic threats.

Travis M. Rivers, 31, of Irvington, was arrested on January 22, 2026. He was wanted on charges of robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Edward Torres, 38, of Newark, was arrested on January 28, 2026. He was being sought on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Anthony Mendez, 28, of Kearny, was arrested on January 29, 2026. He was wanted for three counts of aggravated assault, three counts of unlawful possession of a weapon (two knives and a rifle), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, terroristic threats, and simple assault.

Dorian E. Davis, 25, of Newark, was arrested on January 19, 2026. He was being sought on a charge of aggravated assault.

Kevin Halton, 35, of Newark, was arrested on January 19, 2026. He was wanted on charges of aggravated assault and simple assault.
