The NBA Slam Dunk Contest is broken.
None of the stars want to compete, and it's been that way for a while.
But what if LeBron James had ever done it? Or Kobe Bryant did it again?
Well, there was one year that could've seen LeBron, Kobe, Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady participate.

It didn't come together, and that's too bad.
But on Vince and T-Mac's podcast, they shared the story.
"Do you remember the million dollar phone call?" Vince asked McGrady, who affirmed it.
Vince then explained: "They wanted me, you, Kob and Bron for $1 million, and I said, 'I'm in if everybody else is in.'"
One problem, though.
"I felt like I was the only one that said yes," Carter said. "... Never got a phone call back. And it kind of faded away."

Carter was the guy who knew how a Dunk Contest could elevate his star power. No one has ever topped his legendary performance with his arm in the basket and so much more.
Fans had wanted LeBron to participate for a long time, but he never did.
Instead, this year's dunk contest has Jaxson Hayes, Carter Bryant, Keshad Johnson and Jase Richardson. They couldn't even get back three-time champ Mac McClung and his nine career NBA games.
And if you said "Who?" to any of those names, you're not alone.
If only the superstars had taken that offer. Maybe the Dunk Contest would look vastly different.
