Two K-State football players have been invited to the NFL Draft Scouting Combine

A pair of former Kansas State football players have accepted invitations to participate in the NFL Draft Scouting Combine later this month in Indianapolis.

Sam Hecht and VJ Payne will both represent the Wildcats.

Hecht is a 6-foot-4 and 300-pound offensive lineman who played center during his college career at K-State. He grew up in Shawnee and attended Mill Valley High School. Now, he is on the verge of a professional future in the NFL.

As a senior, Hecht was one of the best offensive linemen in the Big 12. He is coming off a strong showing at the Senior Bowl, which boosted his draft stock ahead of the combine.

Payne will join him in Indianapolis. The 6-foot-3 and 208-pound safety made 40 tackles and grabbed an interception as a senior with the Wildcats.

He is also coming off an appearance in the Senior Bowl.

Payne is best known for his speed, and he will be able to showcase that in front of NFL scouts at the combine.
