Chelsea pushed the boat out and made Andriy Shevchenko their record signing at the time, but it didn’t go to plan for the Ukrainian.
While Frank Lampard famously holds the overall goals record, the conversation about the club’s greatest out-and-out strikers typically begins with Didier Drogba.
Also, a special mention to Chelsea legend Bobby Tambling, who held the club record for 47 years with 202 goals, showing incredible consistency during the 1960s.
And if we were to judge on efficiency, Jimmy Greaves remains the most natural finisher to ever wear the blue shirt, netting 132 times in just 169 appearances before his 21st birthday.
Joao Pedro isn’t quite as lethal as the names mentioned, but he’s Chelsea’s most potent option right now.
And there once was a time when fans had high hopes for Andriy Shevchenko.
QUESTION: Who is the best dribbler you have EVER seen at Chelsea?🤔
There are so many players to choose from!

Andriy Shevchenko opens up on his time at Chelsea
And now he’s broken his silence while speaking on the Prime Video Sport IT YouTube channel.
“Why did you decide to return to Milan?” Shevchenko was asked.
“Because I wasn’t well,” Shevchenko said.
“Did you miss it?” Shevchenko was asked.
“No. I wasn’t right physically at Chelsea. My career at Chelsea went badly because I was never right. I had many physical problems. I thought about changing at that moment. There came a moment when I said: I can’t stay at Chelsea because I can’t get continuity in training, I can’t get continuity in games. I needed to find a place where I can come back, feel good, train well and start playing again at another level.”

Andriy Shevchenko’s time at Chelsea
Andriy Shevchenko joined Chelsea in what was a £31 million club record move at the time.
However, it didn’t go to plan for the striker. He finished his spell at Chelsea with just 22 goals and 11 assists in 77 appearances.
Up until now, Chelsea supporters have been mystified as to what went wrong, especially as Olivier Giroud called Shevchenko the best shooter of all time.
