Arsenal star suffers injury; set to miss key matches - Reports

Arsenal star Kai Havertz has suffered a muscular injury and is set for a spell on the sidelines. The German has been dealing with injury issues for a year, and this will be his third spell out.

According to a report in The Athletic, Havertz is expected to miss the Brentford and Wolverhampton clashes in the Premier League, along with the North London Derby against Tottenham and the FA Cup clash against Wigan Athletic.

The 26-year-old could make his return against Chelsea, the side he scored against in the Carabao Cup semifinal second leg earlier this month. The former Bayer Leverkusen star suffered a hamstring injury in February 2025, keeping him out of action for most of the second half of last season.

He suffered a knee injury on the opening day of the season against Manchester United and was out until December 2025. The new injury is unrelated to the previous issues and is not expected to be serious. However, he will miss the next few games and could be back in March.

Havertz's absence will be the second blow for the Gunners this month, following Mikel Merino. The Spaniard suffered a fracture in his foot and has undergone surgery, keeping him out for at least three months.

Mikel Arteta claimed Kai Havertz was close to making full Arsenal return

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta spoke about Kai Havertz in January, confirming that the German was close to making a full recovery. He claimed that the forward was doing everyone in training to regain fitness and said:

"He is very close. Obviously, he has been out for a long time, almost a year, for different reasons, and now we have to be very smart in the manner that we manage that load, the minutes, and I am sure that in the next few weeks, he is going to play in minutes."

"I cannot tell you which competition because that will depend as well on the game context, and it is a context that is positive to throw him in or not, with his qualities. It is great that we have him. We can use him in different positions, we will see him in different positions, and we are really happy to have him."

Havertz started three of his six matches since making his return from injury. The Arsenal star scored twice and assisted as many times in the 200 minutes on the pitch.
