Two teams I’ll be watching to pursue Malik Willis, if they can find someone to take their current quarterbacks, are the Cardinals and Dolphins. The ties are obvious: New Dolphins GM Jon-Eric Sullivan and coach Jeff Hafley got a head start on Willis from Green Bay, and new Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur can get intimate knowledge of Willis’ game from LaFleur’s brother, Matt. The Cardinals and Dolphins are saddled with huge guarantees for Kyler Murray and Tua Tagovailoa, respectively, though.
Arizona’s interest would be rooted in scheme and insight. With connections to Green Bay’s coaching tree, the Cardinals would have access to detailed evaluations of Willis’ development, making the transition less speculative than most quarterback pursuits.
Any move, however, would come with complications. Arizona and Miami are both tied to quarterbacks carrying significant guaranteed money, limiting flexibility and making a deal dependent on additional roster moves. As the offseason unfolds, Willis’ name is expected to remain part of the quarterback conversation, especially for teams seeking upside without a full rebuild.
