CHICAGO, Ill., — Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is back in Los Angeles as the NFL season is officially over, and now he's trying his hand at a new sport. Well, sort of.
Williams will participate in the NBA's celebrity 3-point shooting contest during NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles at the Staples Center. He will be one of eight people to participate in the field on Friday night, with the event beginning at 9 p.m. CST.
The full field is as follows:
Caleb Williams
NBA analyst Richard Jefferson
Oklahoma City Thunder guard Jared McCain
BMX athlete Nigel Sylvester
Infuencer/Comedian Druski
Jake from State Farm
Streamer PlaqueBoyMax
TikTok Influencer Cam Wilder
For Williams, the event is a good opportunity for him to show off some skills in another sport. In Chicago's locker room, the team has a basketball hoop setup, although it's not at regulation height, the competition in the locker room with "around the world" games is competitive. That includes Williams as well as wide receiver Jahdae Walker, who appear to be the leaders in the clubhouse in terms of best players in that game.
Williams spent two seasons at USC, winning the Heisman Trophy for the Trojans back in 2022. After those two seasons, he was selected as the No.1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and led the Bears to an NFC North title and an appearance in the NFC divisional round this past season.
Following the season, Bears head coach Ben Johnson told the media his message to Williams was to get away from the game of football for a bit. Take a few weeks off and return ready to go. He's doing just that.
Williams has been spotted at Chicago Bulls and Chicago Blackhawks games this offseason and has been in Los Angeles, where he spends a lot of his offseason time.
