The Ringer’s Todd McShay has a good feeling about Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson at the next level. Despite an injury riddled end to his season, McShay still has faith that Simpson could turn into a very capable contributor for the right franchise.
During an appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd on Tuesday, McShay shared what he believes could be the perfect landing spot for Simpson in the upcoming NFL draft. According to McShay’s prediction, Simpson could join forces with Super Bowl winning head coach Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams.

“I think with McVay, and one year behind Stafford let’s say, in that offensive system and with a coach’s mind, I think that could work,” McShay said. “So, I put him at 13 in this (latest) mock draft. As of right now, I don’t think that’s going to happen, but wait for it. I’ve been doing this two and a half decades, as we get closer and without other quarterbacks, somebody’s going to rise, and I could see Ty winning over a lot of coaches in those meetings.”
Current starting quarterback Matthew Stafford is coming off an MVP season with Los Angeles but has also just turned 38 years old. A succession plan will need to come sooner rather than later and the solution could slide right to it in the form of Simpson.
