VICK ON BUMBLEBEE JERSEYS
Michael Vick was one of the most exciting players when he was in the league. His dual-threat ability made him a threat to any defense. While Vick spent most of his career with the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles, he also played for the Steelers for a season. That came in 2015, Vick’s final year in the NFL. He played in five games, including three starts, due to an injury to Ben Roethlisberger.
As a result, Vick got to wear the Steelers’ 1934 throwback alternate jersey that season. Fans will know it as the bumblebee jersey. Appearing on the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast recently, Vick talked about those jerseys. While opinions are mixed, it doesn’t sound like Vick hated that look, though he didn’t seem to love his number while in Pittsburgh.
STEELERS MARKETING MANAGER
The Steelers dealt with a lot of changes this offseason. They have basically an entirely new coaching staff, including a new head coach. However, the Steelers still have some continuity. They have other roles within their organization that aren’t talked about as much. Luckily, one member of the organization recently explained his role.
Brandon Artman is the marketing events manager for the Steelers. He recently appeared on WVUCAHS’s YouTube channel and talked about what he does for the team. It’s interesting to hear about a less-talked-about NFL job. While the Steelers’ coaching staff is getting most of the attention, others help the team.
COLTS-STEELERS PLAYOFF ACCIDENT
The 1970s saw the Steelers dominate and build a dynasty. However, they didn’t win the Super Bowl every year. Some players have previously mentioned that 1976 was their best team of that decade, but they didn’t win the Super Bowl due to injuries. The Steelers started off well in the playoffs that year, going on the road to crush the Baltimore Colts 40-14.
However, there was an accident at the Colts’ stadium after the game. The Colts posted a video talking to John Ziemann, a former member of the team’s marching band who was at that game. Ziemann explained that a small plane tried to land on the field after the game, but it failed and crashed into a section of the stadium. Thankfully, the pilot was okay, and no one else was hurt. It’s a crazy story, though.
