750K fans flood Seattle streets to welcome Seahawks home from Super Bowl LX win

SEATTLE Wash. (KPTV) - The Seahawks soared to victory, and more than 750,000 fans came to celebrate on Wednesday, turning the day into an unofficial holiday for the Emerald City.

“They put against a sorry team like the Patriots, that’s the results you’re going to get, you see the patch, Super Bowl, Super Bowl baby,” said fan Miguel Martinez.

“It’s majestic how it’s been like 12 seasons since they won a Super Bowl, and it’s finally here,” said young fan Allen, who skipped school.

The 12s came to play, managing to find the best seat in the house, right Downtown, some picking their spot bright and early to celebrate a long-awaited win. Their commitment set the tone, with many fans traveling from near and far to celebrate the team.

“At first, we didn’t win a whole lot of games, so it was fun, but whenever we beat Denver or the Raiders, it was like winning the Super Bowl back then. When Russell Wilson came and got more people, it just got better all the time,” said 50 Season ticket holder Rusty Finley.

“There was no other option, definitely coming, no matter what,” said Portlander Richard Lundstrom.

It was Super Sunday in Santa Clara as the Seahawks and Patriots met in Super Bowl LX, 11 years since Seattle and New England last played for the Lombardi Trophy

Up to a million were estimated to be there to witness the Seahawks bring the Lombardi Trophy home. Some called out of work, skipped school, and found any way to make it to what has become an unofficial holiday for the city.

“I’d rather be here than doing my science test. I’ll retake it, it’s fine,” said young fan Simon.

“It’s just so cool, I never really expected the Seahawks to win a Super Bowl in my lifetime, those years of like missing the playoffs,” said young fan Henry Brennan, who went to the Super Bowl.

From the gear to the 12’s chant, to even a decked-out pony, the crowd was amped up in anticipation for the big moment, showing their Seahawks pride as they cheered on the general manager, the coach, the players, and their families.

Twelve years ago, this crowd witnessed their last victory. Now, with the Lombardi trophy back in their hands, the city couldn’t be more electric.

“Showing the Seattle pride and that we, as the Seahawks, are back. We’re back. We are SO back. I hope this is the start of a dynasty. I am so proud of Seattle. This is insane,” said sisters Madi and Meg Patridge.
