Man City prepare mega-money offer to sign Tottenham-linked midfielder who can play both as a #6 …

Tottenham signed one midfielder in January in Conor Gallagher.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with many midfielders in the past months and windows, but all of that resulted in only one arrival (signing Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid).

Among the players linked with a move to N17 is Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson. The Lilywhites have held a long-term interest in the former Newcastle United maestro, but it looks like there is a more serious suitor now for his signatures as Manchester City look to line up a summer bid for his signatures.

Man City preparing Elliot Anderson bid

According to a recent report from TEAMtalk, Man City are prepared to go big to get a hold of Anderson’s services, as they see the 23-year-old as an ideal solution to Pep Guardiola’s midfield given that the Catalan coach has been looking to have a reliable depth behind Rodri in the midfield.

While City are a sigma side in the Premier League, they are only maybe at par with Arsenal. But the former have been overly dependent on Rodri in the middle of the park, and the drop is quite massive when the Spaniard is out. So in Anderson, Guardiola can future-proof that from happening.

Elliot can play in that #6 as well as #8 role and is not only progressive with the ball at his feet but also has a strong defensive presence. Moreover, he is only twenty-three (23) and has a big stride to make in his game. And that is what he can develop into under Pep.

Coming to Tottenham, the North Londoners have been tracking the 23-year-old for a long time. Many fans look at him as a long-term solution to the midfield balance at N17. The Lilywhites are in dire need of consistency and ball-winning presence in the central areas, especially given the current injury problems at Hotspur Way.

But given that City can flex their finances way more than Tottenham, it complicates any successful move for his signing.

Alongside City, the likes of Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal are also vying for his signature. So now Tottenham will have to do a lot of groundwork and grinding to pursue his signatures over other English top-tier elites.
