Reece James joins injured Chelsea star in return to first team training before FA Cup clash

Chelsea have been handed a fitness boost as they look to make a quick turnaround from the Premier League draw against Leeds.

Liam Rosenior has not been given long to digest the underwhelming point at Stamford Bridge before they make their travels up north for FA Cup action against Hull City.

Rosenior will be taking on his former side, as well as Liam Delap who spent a period on loan there when he was part of the Manchester City squad.

The most notable missing player from the squad recently has been club captain Reece James. After a minor injury, illness kept him out of proceedings against Leeds.

Reece James and Tosin Adarabioyo back in training

There is now a real chance the skipper returns for the FA Cup after making his return to training, and the Chelsea website has confirmed he is not the only returnee in the first team squad.

Pictures from the session show centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo back amongst his teammates, as well as Romeo Lavia as both look forward to making their returns to the side.

The Belgian is yet to play since Rosenior took over the club, while Tosin managed to find the net in his first game featuring under the new boss.

While the manager has already promised he won’t undertake mass rotation for this game, changes do need to be made from the side who dropped points to Leeds.

Real chance for Tosin to earn spot

The centre-back positions at Chelsea have seemingly not been decided on by the new manager, with him clearly waiting to be won over by some candidates.

Josh Acheampong was the latest to disappoint, and now will be left earning his place again, potentially behind Tosin in the queue.

It is believed that Mamadou Sarr will feature at some stage for his domestic debut for the club, as he provides another option for the rest of the season.

The race is on for all of these players to earn their place playing alongside Levi Colwill when he returns from his serious knee injury.
