Arne Slot’s conduct in the media continues to frustrate, and there was another example during Liverpool’s clash with Sunderland.
Overall, Wednesday’s performance at the Stadium of Light was very positive.
Liverpool’s Champions League chances have improved, moving to within three points of Manchester United.
Andy Robertson shone after he was handed a rare start in the Premier League ahead of Milos Kerkez.
Florian Wirtz continues to perform at a high level as well, while it was suggested that Ibrahima Konate had ‘his best game in ages’ on February 11.
Change my mind: Liverpool would be CRAZY to let Konate leave 😣

What did Arne Slot say about Ibrahima Konate after Sunderland
Konate has been lauded for his showing, which included making some key last-ditch tackles to keep Brian Brobbey at bay.
There was much to like about the Frenchman and Liverpool’s overall performance in the North East.

Yet in his post-match interview, Slot decided to highlight how Konate had ‘ruined’ games for the Reds this season.
He said: “Impressed but not surprised. I think he’s an example of almost our season. He’s been so unlucky. So unlucky.
“He played sometimes 89 minutes very good and then one moment just ruined our game and his game. Not always about him, but a few times that happened and everybody was focused on his mistake.
“But footballers make mistakes and not always the ball goes in.”
Who was Liverpool’s best player in the excellent win over Sunderland, and why?

Arne Slot is not helping himself
During the 2025/26 season, fan sentiment towards Slot has turned, with many now tired of the Dutchman.
Even during an unbeaten run over the winter, supporters still weren’t happy with the 47-year-old.
It’s easy to see why, especially when you watch his press conference every week and some of the things he says.
If Slot isn’t talking about PSG or set pieces, he’s making odd claims about Jurgen Klopp’s 2022/23 season, or in this case, digging out Konate for no reason.
Yes, the centre-back hasn’t been at his best this term, but he’s just put in an excellent shift, not long removed from a starring display against Newcastle United.
There was just no need to call Konate out on Wednesday night, and it is another example of Slot doing little to endear himself to the Liverpool faithful during a time when the mood towards him is shifting negatively.
