Newcastle Tipped To Replace Eddie Howe With Ex-Chelsea Boss Who's Linked With Man United

Newcastle have been tipped to sack Eddie Howe at the end of the season, amid a string of poor performances.

For what feels like the first time in his reign at Newcastle, Eddie Howe is under considerable pressure, with his side struggling to balance form in both the Premier League and the Champions League.

They currently sit 10th in the league, and have won just one in their last six games in all competitions, which was a 2-1 win against Tottenham, which led to Thomas Frank getting sacked.

Howe has already been linked to potentially taking over as England manager once Thomas Tuchel likely leaves the post in the summer, and so the Magpies could see themselves making a change in the summer, to try and keep growing under the backing of the Saudi owners.

Newcastle tipped to replace Howe with Tuchel

Amid Tuchel likely leaving the England role, it is no surprise that he has been linked to Manchester United, who are deliberating on whether to make Michael Carrick their next permanent manager.

However, according to ESPN journalist Mike Odgen, Newcastle could replace Howe with the current England manager. Odgen said: “Newcastle’s progress since being taken over by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund in 2021 has slowed to a halt and repeated problems in the transfer market have frustrated Howe.

“With the England job likely to become available when Tuchel’s contract expires after the World Cup, a natural parting of the ways could happen at Newcastle this summer. Howe leaves for the England job, Newcastle go for Tuchel.”

The Magpies are currently looking at a very difficult task to qualify for the Champions League for next season, or Europe at all, based on the form of teams such as Man United, Aston Villa, Chelsea and even the likes of Brentford. But, if they were able to attract Tuchel in, it could become a very shrewd appointment at St James’ Park.
