One of Liverpool's fastest-growing clubs in line for stand expansion

The home of one of Liverpool’s fastest-growing football clubs is in line for an upgrade. Since their formation in 2010, it’s been a meteoric rise for Lower Breck FC.

The Anfield-based side sit top of the Northern Premier League West division, having been promoted from the North West Counties last season through the play-offs. With the club welcoming hundreds of fans to home games each week, changes are being proposed to offer more seating for fans.

A planning application has been lodged with Liverpool Council to install two 50-seater stands at Anfield Sports and Community Centre (ASCC) on Lower Breck Road. The new stands would accompany an existing central area at the ground.

According to a design and access statement submitted to the city council, the proposal will deliver a seated formal spectator capacity of 100, with both stands located within the existing pitch-side fencing and positioned to bookend the current central stand. The scheme is designed to meet league ground standards by March 2026 and to enhance the inclusivity, safety, and quality of spectator provision at the site.

It added: “The grandstand will be sited to serve the principal 3G pitch, improving safety, comfort, and accessibility for users while maintaining the amenity of neighbouring residents and the openness of the park setting. The materials, form and scale are consistent with the established sports context, and the works are designed to be reversible and low impact.”

The installation of the new stands will provide formalised seating and aisles which, according to the application, “offer better crowd organisation, sightlines, and controlled movement compared to informal touchline congregation.” The report added: “The proposed 50-seat grandstand is a proportionate, accessible, and policy-compliant improvement to ASCC’s spectator facilities.

“It addresses league requirements by March 2026, enhances community experience, and maintains amenity and environmental safeguards. The Club and ASCC will continue to work positively with the Local Planning Authority to ensure the development is delivered to a high standard.”

Given the need to address league requirements by next month, the applicant has requested the city council’s planning department resolve the matter, which was submitted in January, quickly. A date has yet to be set for officials to consider the plans.

Lower Breck are next at home on Saturday February 21 when they host Wythenshawe Town at 3pm.
