Arsenal could yet be boosted by the returns of captain Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka on Thursday when they travel to Brentford in Premier League action.

The attacking pair are both said to be in contention to feature at the Gtech having missed the past few matches due to injury.

However, neither player was spotted in the pre-Brentford training photo gallery published on Arsenal's website.

The Gunners always release a series of pictures from their final training session before every match.

This time around there are a number of stars absent, though as always, that does not necessarily mean they did not train.

Equally, even if they didn't train, that's not to say they won't be available for the game against the Bees.

Leandro Trossard, Ben White, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga were also not pictured.

Trossard was forced off late in the second half of the 3-0 victory over Sunderland, though he never went down the tunnel for treatment which indicates he may have been suffering from fatigue.

Mikel Merino (foot) and Max Dowman (ankle) remain sidelined and were absent too while Kai Havertz wasn't visible which makes sense because reports suggest he's set for several weeks out with a muscular issue.

Thankfully, Arsenal's squad is so deep, they were not light on numbers during the session.

David Raya, Jurrien Timber, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Cristhian Mosquera, Marli Salmon, Piero Hincapie, Riccardo Calafiori, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Martin Zubimendi, Declan Rice, Eberechi Eze, Gabriel Martinelli, Noni Madueke, Gabriel Jesus and Viktor Gyokeres were all pictured, respectively.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Wednesday, Areteta hinted Saka and Odegaard could be involved, stating: "Max [Dowman] is still not available, the rest we will see."

The gap at the top has now been cut to six points following Manchester City's 3-0 demolition of Fulham at the Etihad on Wednesday evening.

Arsenal can restore their six-point lead at the summit with victory in west London before FA Cup action returns at the weekend.

The Gunners host Wigan Athletic at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday and can rest players against the Latics, should they wish.
