Everton struggled to land their desired January transfer targets and the task for the summer window is already looking difficult.
David Moyes has made it no secret that he wanted more winter business done to bolster the squad.
Speaking in his programme notes ahead of Bournemouth, Moyes shared why Everton had a quiet January window.
After seeing how the game unravelled on Tuesday evening, Everton looked like a side who were lacking star quality.
Ironically, the Blues were coming up against one of their reported transfer targets ahead of the summer.
Everton are keen to sign Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth as the defender is set to become a free agent.

According to a report from TuttoJuve, there are a number of Europe’s top clubs showing an interest in signing Senesi this summer.
The report from Italy claims Barcelona are currently the side in pole position to land the defender.
Alongside the Spanish giants, Juventus, Chelsea and a host of other Premier League sides are said to have Senesi on their radar.
Senesi is known as ‘the gladiator’ for his style of play as the Blues could be left with the need to improve at centre-back this summer.
Michael Keane’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season despite having played a regular role at the back for the Blues.
A lot of Everton fans will be concerned about the prospect of qualifying for Europe next season.
Moyes is determined to return Everton to European football, but that would require a lot of work over the summer.
Everton currently do not have a squad that would be capable of competing on all fronts if they had to also compete in Europe.
However, the Blues are going to need to be able to offer European football if they are ever to compete in this market for players.
Liam Delap snubbed Everton for Chelsea as they were able to offer him Champions League football.
It must also be considered what players the Blues risk losing if they continue to go without European qualification under the Friedkins.
