John Terry believes former Chelsea manager would actually be‘great’as new Tottenham boss

Chelsea’s arch-rivals are currently in the market for a new manager, after Tottenham made the decision to sack Thomas Frank in his first season in charge.

Spurs have made the decision to follow Chelsea’s call to sack Enzo Maresca after slipping as low as 16th in the Premier League and genuinely having to look over their shoulder.

Gary Lineker would like to see Maresca take over at Spurs, however that feels unlikely amid his links to the Manchester City or Juventus jobs.

Rosenior is the perfect manager for Palmer, isn’t he? 🤔

While the Italian may not be in the running, fellow former Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is set to be in the conversation.

John Terry tips Mauricio Pochettino to take over at Tottenham

Pochettino has already put his name forward for the job, despite the fact he currently has a job as the head coach of the United States National Team.

With a home World Cup to come this summer, it feels likely he sees that out, however John Terry is predicting he will then say his goodbyes and become the new Spurs boss.

He said on his TikTok: “They certainly need a new manager bounce. It’s looking like De Zerbi is the favourite until the end of the season. Robbie Keane’s been linked until the end of the season as well.

“But I think the main one who Spurs fans want and everyone’s talking about is Pochettino to come back. Obviously worked with him and seen him work at Chelsea.

“Great manager, done great for Spurs previously as well, but I think he’s gonna be the one to take Spurs into next season.”

Pochettino to Spurs would further damage his relationship with Chelsea

As far as former Chelsea managers go, Pochettino certainly has one of the weaker relationships with his former fans.

In just one year at the club, supporters never really got on board with him and would certainly not take lightly to him returning to his former side.

Many believe the Argentine should have done better with the talent of players he had at his disposal, and also played a part in the injury records of some at the club.

Fingers were pointed at Pochettino after Romeo Lavia’s injury woes resumed. He was thrown into a game for just 45 minutes during the former manager’s time at the club.
