PM: Rick Fox asked for a PLP nomination

Days before he was ratified by the Free National Movement (FNM) as its candidate for Golden Isles, former NBA star Rick Fox was seeking to be nominated by the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP), Prime Minister Philip Davis said today.

“Rick Fox did reach out to me seeking to be a PLP standard bearer in this general election, and up to two and three days before he was [ratified], he was seeking a nomination for either Killarney or Long Island,” Davis told reporters.

Last Tuesday night, when asked about his decision to join the FNM, Fox said his visions aligned with that of the party and party leader Michael Pintard.

“As I continued to work with the leader and continued to work with the party and to look at the strategy that is in place to move forward to win the government,” Fox said.

“It’s not about me and where I want to serve, it’s about where we as a group could serve the country the best.

He added that he feels he is the right fit for Garden Hills.
