For many, it has become clear what Mike Evans will do: either remain in the NFL or retire. While another option: moving to a new franchise: has arisen, according to PFF, it may not be the best option for the trajectory of Evans’ career.

Make no ands, ifs, or buts about it, Evans will almost certainly retire with a Hall of Fame case. However, whether it will be with the franchise where he has seen the most success remains to be seen. The overarching sentiment remains that Evans still has a couple more good years left in the tank, and no matter the record of consecutive 1,000 yard seasons being broken up, chances are he is still a valuable asset.

PFF Highlights Why Tampa Bay Still Makes Sense

Pro Football Focus’ Mason Cameron outlined the various reasons why Evans could be returning to Tampa amidst a intriguing free agency market. “Despite missing out on notching an NFL-record 12th consecutive 1,000-yard season, Mike Evans can unquestionably still play at an exceedingly high level when healthy. Even amid a series of injuries causing him to miss time in 2025, Evans posted a 70.0-plus PFF receiving grade, a mark he has never fallen below during his 12-year career. That level of consistency is unmatched at the NFL level and should warrant plenty of interest this offseason despite his age”, wrote Cameron of Evans’ abilities.

Still, Cameron forgot to mention that Evans is still one of the best pure route runners in the game, one of the most explosive receivers, and most impressively, one of the best in terms of making contested catches.

Granted, it may be more enticing for Evans to depart Tampa bay in search of a second career Lombardi trophy. There are several teams that could be clamoring for his services should he be open to a potential move.

Potential Suitors Could Offer Championship Appeal

For one, the Jacksonville Jaguars could be a team to keep an eye. After exceeding expectations last season under new head coach Liam Coen, they could be looking for someone to win on those 50/50 balls and make contested catches over the middle of the field, where Trevor Lawrence seems to thrive. While it would be a tricky move, don’t count out the Jaguars.

Another contender that could use a player of Evans’ caliber could be the Denver Broncos. While they have one of the NFL’s best defenses, they don’t necessarily have the offensive weapons to be a more well-rounded team. While Courtland Sutton fits the mold of a WR1 and Troy Franklin looks competent as a supplementary piece, Evans could take this wide receiver corps over the top with his skill set.

The bottom line is that Evans has a market where teams could go all in to acquire him. That does not mean that there are not more enticing options on the table. While Evans will go down as a franchise legend, his offseason decision could be the difference between an amicable and uneasy exit.
