Thomas Tuchel has revealed that his journey to the England dugout was no accident, sharing a private conversation he had with his agent years ago before he arrived at Chelsea.
Arriving in January 2021 with the club in 9th position, Thomas Tuchel instantly implemented a resilient 3-4-2-1 system, which helped guide the Blues to a historic Champions League title within four months.
That wasn’t all, as in over 100 games, he achieved a 60% win rate and secured two other major honors: the UEFA Super Cup and Chelsea’s first-ever FIFA Club World Cup.
Matt Law was even told by someone at Chelsea about just how impressed they were with Thomas Tuchel during his time at the club.
But he wasn’t treated fairly by the owners, with Todd Boehly sacking Tuchel shortly after he was denied access to the Chelsea dressing room at half-time during the clash with West Ham.
Rosenior is the perfect manager for Palmer, isn’t he? 🤔
Thomas Tuchel says it was always his dream to manage England
England have announced that Thomas Tuchel has just landed himself a new deal with the national team that will see him stay until 2028.
And speaking after the news, Thomas Tuchel brought up his Chelsea plan that came true (England)
“I remember calling my manager and telling him about that, and I said well this is my dream. I want to win as many titles as possible with Chelsea and then let’s try to become the English national coach.”
It’s a full-circle moment for Tuchel, who went and delivered everything he said he would at Chelsea, even if he wasn’t always supported properly.

What can Liam Rosenior learn from Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea?
There are specific lessons from Thomas Tuchel’s tenure that are critical for Liam Rosenior’s long-term success at Chelsea.
The first lesson is the use of control as a defensive weapon. Tuchel’s Chelsea averaged 62.2% possession not just to attack, but to make the team unbeatable by creating a defensive floor.
Rosenior has struggled to find a balance in defence so far. At centre-back, he has chopped and changed with Trevoh Chalobah, often being partnered by a different player every game. But this has been down to the fitness of Fofana, which has forced the hands of the Chelsea boss.
He can also learn from Tuchel’s tactical pragmatism. While Rosenior is almost committed to playing out from the back, Tuchel was famous for adapting to certain opponents. Rosenior has shown flashes of this, such as using Liam Delap as a physical outlet to target full-backs, but it hasn’t worked out just yet.
