Chelsea’s rising midfield talent talks about disappointment despite “pre-assist” of the season

Chelsea’s result against Leeds on Tuesday night was hugely disappointing – but part of the reason for that was just how good they were at times.

Andrey Santos was the pick of the bunch, continuing his excellent progress this season as a midfield partner to Moises Caicedo. His “pre-assist” to Cole Palmer for the opening goal was maybe his season highlight so far.

Speaking to the club’s official website, the Brazilian revealed how gutted the group were with the result:

“Of course we are disappointed with the result. We played very well in the first half and then in the second half something happened, but now we have to move on,” Santos said.

“Obviously we always want to win, but we have to move on because in two days we have another game.

“It’s so important to move on quickly because at Chelsea you have to try to win every single game, you have to fight in every single game and get maximum points from them.”

It’s such a shame we let those two goals in – we should be hearing from Santos talking about how well he’s playing, not this negativity. Nevertheless, we’re delighted to see him do well and to see that Rosenior’s arrival has helped as we hoped.

In other news…

Marc Cucurella’s hamstring injury has already ruled him out for tomorrow’s game – now everyone wants to know just how bad it is. He is having an MRI today, with Spanish sources already fearing the worst for the full back.

Atletico Madrid have been linked with a summer move for Pedro Neto, but at the moment the main transfer sources are saying that’s unlikely. We certainly don’t see the reported £80m price as realistic – although if it was, Chelsea would have a hard time saying no to such a profit.
