Christian McCaffrey sent a clear message about his future with the San Francisco 49ers in an exclusive interview.

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey may not have been playing in the Super Bowl, but the star played host in his adopted city throughout the Big Game festivities. Heavy Sports sat down with McCaffrey for an exclusive interview, discussing a wide range of topics including his future with the Niners, the team’s rival Seattle Seahawks playing the Super Bowl at Levi’s Stadium and his collaboration with eBay.

McCaffrey is on a two-year, $38 million contract that is slated to run through the 2027 season. Yet, there is no more guaranteed money remaining on McCaffrey’s deal, creating some speculation about his future in San Francisco.

The 49ers have an out in McCaffrey’s contract that would allow the franchise to move on from the star this offseason. McCaffrey made it clear that the running back wants to finish his career with the 49ers.

“That would be an honor (finishing his career with the 49ers),” McCaffrey told Heavy Sports during an exclusive interview on the eve of the Super Bowl. “Yeah, to end my career with the Niners would be an honor. It’s, I think, one of the best organizations in sports.

“The group of people that you’re able to go to work with every day. I don’t take it lightly. I don’t take one day for granted. Really thankful that they took a risk and traded for me four years ago. And again, I just feel blessed to be a part of the organization.”

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey on Seahawks Amid Super Bowl Run: ‘There’s a Serious Dislike for Each Other’

McCaffrey was not as complimentary when discussing the Niners’ rivalry with the Seahawks as well as the other NFC West teams. The star admitted there is a “serious dislike” for the Seahawks and the NFC West teams. It did not make things any easier that Seattle won the franchise’s second Super Bowl at the 49ers’ home in Santa Clara.

“I think our division was the most competitive in football this year,” McCaffrey noted. “I don’t think there’s any doubt about that. I think it’s fun for the game. Obviously, we don’t like each other, anyone obviously in our division.

“I think there’s a serious dislike for each other, but I think there’s a lot of respect in the physicality that we kind of bring to it and the intensity that all of the teams in our division play with. I think that’s not in every division, but it’s definitely in ours and makes for fun football.”

Christian McCaffrey Partnered With eBay During the Super Bowl

Ahead of the Super Bowl, McCaffrey partnered with eBay at an impressive pop-up in downtown San Francisco. McCaffrey came decked out in clothes the running back purchased on eBay.

McCaffrey appeared at the Super Bowl pop-up where live auctions were taking place throughout the venue. Fans in San Francisco could purchase vintage sports clothing at the pop-up and watch athletes such as McCaffrey and Rob Gronkowski conduct live auctions.

McCaffrey is likely hoping to be preparing to play in the Super Bowl this time next year in Los Angeles. In the meantime, McCaffrey is making it clear that he wants to be wearing a Niners uniform for the foreseeable future.
