Man United should always target the best of the rest in the Premier League with a new winger on the radar of the recruitment team.

Manchester United spent a lot of money last summer, some on potential with the bulk of it going on proven Premier League quality.

Matheus Cunha hasn’t quite made the same impact as Bryan Mbeumo, however, it cand be argued that the style of play and system under Ruben Amorim wasn’t a great fit and Bruno Fernandes is in his best position now that Michael Carrick is in charge. To judge him fairly, a run of games at no.10 would be needed, but that is unlikely to happen given the skipper’s importance to the team.

Man United lead chase for Premier League winger

United have always recruited from the Premier League and this summer is expected to be no different with names already being mentioned as possible targets. Iliman Ndiaye has spoken about United’s interest already and his transfer fee is said to have dropped by some £20m. According to TEAMtalk, United lead the chase for his signature: “Everton star Iliman Ndiaye is emerging as one of the Premier League’s sought-after attacking talents, and TEAMtalk understands that Manchester United are frontrunners in the race to sign him, but they face serious competition.”

It is a blow to Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham who are ‘also keen’ on the Everton man.

As with Bournemouth and Antoine Semenyo, Everton won’t be short of offers for one of the league’s most creative wingers. At £55m, the 25-year old is an attractive proposition even if five goals and two assists in 22 games aren’t exactly eye-catching numbers. In a more attack-minded team, these would be expected to improve.

What Moyes and Ndiaye have said about United links

Everton though, are in no rush to part ways with one of their best players now that they are in a financial position to be more selective with who they sell. Toffees boss David Moyes is a huge fan of the winger with “dancing feet” and made his message pretty clear when asked about speculation recently: “We’ve got no intention of letting Ili go,” Moyes stated. “None whatsoever. By the way, I’m sure there’s a price for every player on the planet if you look around. If you’re asking me, we’ve got no intention of selling Ili.”

Ndiaye has also addressed the rumours and, towing the party line, he said, “As I always say, if there are rumours or interest and things like that, it must mean you’re doing something right, right?! I am really happy to be at this club and be part of a new project with the new stadium, new ownership. “It feels like a new adventure for all of us. I want to achieve things with Everton, I want to win trophies, which the club hasn’t seen for too long, and things like that. It’s an aim for us to work towards.”

The problem Everton have now, is that Ndiaye’s agent will be knocking on their door looking for the sort of contract that a £55m winger should be on. Usually, this only ends one way.
