The Dallas Cowboys finished with a 7-9-1 record last season in the NFL. Quarterback Dak Prescott and the offense was not the reason why Dallas finished with that record. The offense was scoring points in bunches, but the defense was one of the worst units in the league last season.

Prescott completed 67.3% of his passes for 4,552 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He also rushed for 177 yards on 53 carries and two touchdowns, along with averaging 3.3 yards per carry. Prescott is 32 years old. Dallas is in win now mode. He has never won an MVP award in his career. Will Prescott be able to finally do it next year?

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott (4) looks for an open receiver as New York Giants linebacker Abdul Carter (51) runs towards him, Sunday, January 4, 2026, in East Rutherford.
Eric Williams, an NFL reporter for Foxsports.com created his way too early bold predictions for the 2026 NFL season. His bold prediction is that Prescott will lead the Cowboys to the playoffs and also win the MVP award next season. Williams said,
“Prescott was briefly in the MVP conversation last season in his first year under head coach Brian Schottenheimer. The upward trajectory will continue for Dallas, as other teams take a step back in the NFC East and the Cowboys continue to build around Prescott by bringing back dynamic receiverGeorge Pickensand adding new offensive pieces in the draft.
Prescott finished third in passing yards (4,552), fourth in passing touchdowns (30) and seventh in passer rating (99.2) during the regular season in 2025. If he stays healthy, Prescott should improve on those numbers and expect more wins for the Cowboys in the upcoming season.”
The Cowboys did franchise tag wide receiver George Pickens. That will help Dallas out no doubt. Even though Prescott had a great year, they didn’t make the playoffs because of the defense. If he puts up the same exact numbers next season and the defense is a lot better, Dallas could be back in the playoffs. It will be up to the defense to get Dallas back to the playoffs and not necessarily Dak.
