Report: Frustrated Chelsea star in contention for start vs Hull City as he makes injury return

Chelsea are not expected to make mass changes to their starting side when they take on Hull City in the FA Cup fourth round.

Liam Rosenior has plenty of respect for the high-flying Championship side who sacked him in 2024, setting up his extraordinary path that has eventually seen him land at Stamford Bridge.

Despite the desire to take the Cup seriously, some rotation simply will be needed. Despite Cole Palmer’s four goals in two games, he is clearly still building his fitness back up and should be handed this opportunity for rest.

How many points do Chelsea get from their next three PL games? 🤔

The top-four race is hotting up…

There could be a number of returning stars ready to feature. Reece James is back in training as well as Tosin Adarabioyo.

Filip Jorgensen set to return for Chelsea vs Hull City

The club captain had been seen training ahead of the game against Leeds, however was ruled out of that one due to illness.

One player who made an immediate impact on the new manager when he came in was Filip Jorgensen, and there is a real chance that he is one of the changes made by Rosenior.

According to the Evening Standard, Jorgensen has a chance of returning to the starting side on Friday night, putting the question in the manager’s mind again over who his number one should be.

Rosenior was notably impressed by Jorgensen early on in his time at the club, and was emotional when the Dane fell to an injury during the Champions League game against Pafos.

Robert Sanchez still under pressure at Chelsea

Robert Sanchez has earned himself a future at Chelsea that did not look possible around 12 months ago with his brilliant performances on the pitch.

However, there will always be analysis on his displays and whether he should be the first name on the teamsheet, with Jorgensen ready to take his chance.

There is no doubt an eye on the performances of Mike Penders on loan at Strasbourg, with him having experience playing under Rosenior at the Ligue 1 side.

Chelsea have high hopes for Penders, and the pressure is on both Sanchez and Jorgensen to deliver between now and the end of the season to hold off the young force.
