Haynes notes that Pigmented Villonodular Synovitis (PVNS) has been detected in his left knee. The condition presents itself as a benign, but aggressive, tumor that can cause swelling and chronic pain. It was discovered in Jackson after last week’s trade from the Memphis Grizzlies.
Jackson, 26, was acquired at last week’s NBA trade deadline for a package that included three first-round picks. In three games with the Jazz, Jackson has averaged 22.3 points in 24.0 minutes. He’s appeared in a combined 48 games this season.
A native of Plainfield, NJ, Jackson is in his eighth season out of Michigan State. A two-time All-Star and the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year, Jackson is in the final year of his rookie extension and set to begin a four-year, $205 million extension next season.
