COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football’s 2026 coaches clinic will feature an appearance from former NFL head coach Jon Gruden.
The event is scheduled to take place April 16-18. It’ll mark Gruden’s first known trip to Columbus since he visited in August for an Ohio State practice.
The Sandusky, Ohio, native started his coaching career in 1986 as a graduate assistant for Tennessee. After a variety of stints as an assistant across the collegiate and professional levels, he got his first job as a head coach for the Oakland Raiders (1998-2001).
He then coached the Buccaneers (2002–08) where he led the franchise to its first Super Bowl title in his first season at the helm.
Gruden worked for ESPN during his prolonged stint away from coaching before he returned to the sideline as the Raiders head coach (2018-21). He hasn’t coached since, serving occasionally as an advisor and working as a media personality primarily for Barstool Sports.
Ohio State’s coaches clinic will also feature breakout sessions and presentations with coach Ryan Day’s entire staff, including a pair of former NFL head coaches.
Defensive coordinator Matt Patricia is entering his second season with the Buckeyes after two decades in the NFL. Offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, who coached the Falcons from 2021-23, is entering his first season at Ohio State.
