NFL Network's Mike Garafolo delivered a message on the Philadelphia Eagles losing assistant Kevin Patullo.

The Philadelphia Eagles fan base largely rejoiced when former offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo landed a new job with the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday. The Eagles relieved Patullo of his offensive play-calling duties this offseason after he held the role for just one season.

But NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo made it clear Thursday morning Patullo’s departure is likely to have a negative impact on Philadelphia’s offense.

“I have a message for Eagles fans — if you think that this guy was not a reason why you’ve had such incredible success under Nick Sirianni, you are sadly mistaken,” said Garafolo on Good Morning, Football. “He was the pass-game coordinator two years ago, the role he is going to be filling with the Dolphins, when this team won the Super Bowl.

“He has also been a trusted advisor and sort of a pseudo head coach for Sirianni that he’s known for quite some time and helped him with a lot of the head coaching mechanisms there.”

Patullo coached under Sirianni from 2018-25. Their relationship began when Sirianni was Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator, and Patullo was the Colts wide receivers coach in 2018.

Patullo followed Sirianni to Philadelphia in 2021. Sirianni became Eagles head coach while Patullo joined the staff as pass game coordinator.

In 2025, Patullo served as Philadelphia’s fourth offensive coordinator in the past four seasons. When the offense struggled during last fall, Patullo received a bulk of the blame from Eagles fans.

Sirianni announced on January 13 he removed Patullo from the offensive coordinator role. Despite his dismissal as OC, ESPN’s Tim McManus wrote the Eagles were ‘open to keeping’ Patullo on staff in a different role.

Eagles Were ‘Open to Keeping’ Kevin Patullo in Different Role: Report

Garafolo used the report the Eagles were willing to move Patullo into a different role in his argument that the offensive assistant was extremely important to Philadelphia’s staff.

“This team, the Eagles, did not fire him when they made a change at offensive coordinator,” Garafolo said. “Do you know how rare that is in the NFL? Usually, it’s like, ‘Alright, this guy has got to go regardless of whether he’s been here in other roles or not.’

“They would have welcomed him back.”

Garafolo added that Patullo was a sought-after coach on the market as well this offseason. While the Eagles were hopeful Patullo could return, Garafolo reported the team allowed the assistant to seek other opportunities.

On Wednesday, he landed with the Dolphins.

Patullo’s Coaching Resume as He Joins Miami Dolphins

The 2026 campaign will be Patullo’s 17th NFL season. His first opportunity came with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2007.

Patullo has served in a variety of offensive roles over the past two decades. He’s also made three coaching stops at the college level during his career.

The 2026 campaign will be Patullo’s seventh consecutive year as a pass game coordinator or specialist.

The Eagles were ranked 19th in points and 24th in yards with Patullo as their offensive coordinator in 2025. During 2024, the Eagles were 29th in passing yards but 12th in net yards per pass attempt and passing touchdowns.

Patullo departs Philadelphia having helped the organization make two Super Bowl appearances. The Eagles won their second title with Patullo as their pass game coordinator.
