Liverpool transfer effort–Either€25m or free agent, contact already made

Denzel Dumfries

31th May 2025; Munich Football Arena, Munich, Germany; Uefa Champions League Final Football Match; Paris versus Inter; Denzel Dumfries of FC Internazionale Milan

Towards the end of the winter transfer window, Sport Witness took an extensive look at Liverpool’s interest in Denzel Dumfries.

Calciomercato appeared sure that a deal could go through. Inter Milan were willing to sell him but the Dutchman’s injury made sure that nothing materialised.

Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta also confirmed Liverpool’s contact, suggesting the Reds’ were certainly interested. Inter then failed to bring Ivan Perisic back from PSV, making sure that Dumfries stayed at the club beyond the winter window.

Even if a deal didn’t go through then, Arne Slot’s side can be hunting for a full-back in Italy again soon.

Zeki Celik intrigue for Liverpool

TuttoSport report today – via ForzaRoma, about Zeki Celik’s situation in the Italian capital.

His current contract in Rome runs out in the summer transfer window. The Giallorossi have made an offer to renew, putting forward a three-year contract worth €2.8m per season.

The Turk has rejected this, with reasons for the stance currently unknown. Amidst this uncertainty, his situation is now attracting attention from Liverpool and Inter Milan.

The Nerazzurri, who are the masters of free agent signings, see the 28-year-old as a replacement for Matteo Darmian.

Reds still in for Dumfries

Mentions of Liverpool don’t end there. The Reds’ interest in Dumfries is also reported, with Chelsea also in the race for the Netherlands international.

His contract at the San Siro runs out in 2027 and he has faced a major injury problem this season. No progress has been made over talks over a deal either. This is making Inter consider a possible sale in the summer and landing Zeki Celik as a replacement.

As of now, Dumfries’ contract has a release clause worth €25m and this can prove to be an interesting opportunity for Liverpool. A deal could be easier to execute in the summer, even if the right-back does well for the Netherlands at the World Cup.
