While some guys at the Olympics have been flunking spectacularly in the boyfriend department, there is at least one man on the slopes who seems to know what he’s doing: Myles Garrett, boyfriend of Team USA snowboarder and two-time Olympic gold medalist Chloe Kim. Garrett, who’s a defensive end for the Cleveland Browns, joined Kim in Cortina on Wednesday, and he’s been crushing his Instagram-boyfriend duties since then. Per ESPN, he hiked to the side of the half-pipe prior to her qualifiers and set up some expensive-looking camera equipment to get the best shot of Kim. “I got her whole run,” Garrett said after she finished first before going into the half-pipe final. “She’s amazing.”
Garrett has been traipsing around with his telephoto lens, dutifully watching on as Kim competes and capturing it all in 4K. Elsewhere, he has been spotted looking stressed for her, looking ecstatic for her, and getting backup footage on his iPhone. Oh, and did I mention he has a custom jacket with Kim’s face on it? Perfection.
On Thursday, Kim competed in a nail-biter competition for the half-pipe finals. A favorite going in, she got edged out for the gold last-minute by the South Korean 17-year-old Choi Ga-on. NBC broadcasters noted that the teen counted Kim as one of her inspirations, and Kim seemed more than happy to share the podium with her competitor. On the bright side, I bet Garrett got some very high-definition images of his Olympic girlfriend looking rad as hell.
