Ricky Martin was a guest during Bad Bunny’s record-breaking Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday, while Kid Rock was the lead performer for Turning Point USA’s “alternative” event.
In the wake of their Super Bowl-related appearances, many have discovered that Martin and Kid Rock (real name Robert James Ritchie) have one thing in common: they were both born in 1971.
Rock was born on January 17, so he recently turned 55. Martin was born on Christmas Eve, so he is still 54. Their common birth year was highlighted on social media.

Many felt that Martin was holding back the years, shall we say, a little more easily.

Despite complaints from right-wing commentators and President Tr*mp, the Super Bowl halftime show from Bad Bunny, broke records with 135 million viewers watching it live. That makes it the most-watched halftime show in history. It narrowly eclipses Kendrick Lamar’s show last year.
By contrast, Kid Rock’s ‘All-American Halftime Show’ with Turning Point USA drew around 6 million concurrent viewers at its peak. Sad!
Yesterday, while appearing on Fox News, Kid Rock was asked about his opinion on Bad Bunny’s show. He said he “didn’t understand any of it.”
He also commented on the fact that Jay Z’s Roc Nation has produced the NFL halftime shows since 2019. Kid Rock (who performed with Jay Z at the 2004 BET Awards) suggested there was a “DEI hire” element to Jay Z landing the gig – a suggestion widely criticized by many online.
Kid Rock, of all people, called Jay-Z — arguably the greatest hip-hop artist ever and a billionaire — a “DEI hire.”
His stupidity is truly terminal. https://t.co/wa6INKuH6i
