Steven Gerrard Says Chelsea Are "A Completely Different Animal" When One Player Performs At His Best

**Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard believes Cole Palmer’s return to form could dramatically improve Chelsea’s chances of finishing high up the table.**

Speaking to _TNT Sports_, Gerrard said that the 23-year-old has the ability to transform the Blues’ prospects over the coming weeks and months:

“With Palmer back, that’s a massive concern for others. The type of player who doesn’t just score goals; he changes the entire gravity of the pitch. When he’s on it, Chelsea look like a completely different animal.”

Palmer scored and provided an assist during the 2-2 draw against Leeds on Tuesday night, although he did miss a sitter to clinch all three points in stoppage time.

Chelsea have reaped the benefits of Palmer’s resurgence

The England international has been heavily involved in the club’s upturn in form following the appointment of Liam Rosenior.

Palmer has missed a couple of games due to a knock, but in the six matches he has played since Rosenior’s arrival, he has found the back of the net 5 times and provided 3 assists.

Over that period, the club have also qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League and moved up to 5th in the Premier League table.

Palmer has been playing with injuries

-------------------------------------

The attacking midfielder has recently admitted that he has struggled with ongoing niggles, and they have hampered him even when he has been picked to play games.

It is the first time in Palmer’s professional career that [**fitness**](https://chelseanews.com/blog/chelsea-injury-news-reece-james-tosin-adarabioyo-romeo-lavia/) concerns have influenced his actions and decision-making on the pitch, and it has taken time for him to adapt.

His recent performances do indicate that he is now more confident in his body, and as Gerrard says, when Palmer is at his best, he has a massive impact on his teammates around him.
