The Opta Power Rankings is a global data model that is updated on a weekly basis, quantifying results and assigning each team a figure between 0 and 100.
Teams’ performances over the season is measured and updated, and Manchester United have seen a big turnaround inside the last 12 months.

Manchester United overtake Real Madrid
Manchester United’s latest position in the Opta Power Rankings is 10th place, which is great going for a club not even in the Champions League or Europa League.
United’s entry into the top 10 is significant, because this is the first time United have been here since September 2023, 878 days ago, when Erik ten Hag was manager.
The Red Devils have a performance rank of 92.4/100, which edges out Real Madrid into 11th, with the La Liga giants 92.3.
Real Madrid were ranked number one in June 2024, and have now slipped down.

Manchester United dipped to 45th
At the end of 2024/25 after United finished 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League Final, the Red Devils were ranked as low as 45th.
Clubs including Al-Hilal, Crystal Palace and Bologna all ranked above United, but have since been left trailing.

Arsenal are currently ranked number one with Manchester City second. United have beaten both teams within the past 12 months, results that have also aided the Red Devils’ climb in rankings.
One thing Ruben Amorim accurately predicted at the end of last season was that United hit rock bottom. Now the club are on the rise again, and even brighter days are hopefully ahead.
