Liam Rosenior has confirmed two Chelsea boosts ahead of an important run of fitxtures.
Chelsea have been handed two fitness boosts ahead of another important run of fixtures. The Blues are preparing to face Hull City in the FA Cup on Friday night, a game they will expect to come through, but after that, they face Burnley, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Newcastle United in a run of fixtures that could define their top four bid.
The Blues suffered a setback in their bid last time out when they drew with Leeds United despite leading by two goals and having an open goal chance to win the game even after Leeds had come back.
That could be a big moment in the Champions League race, but Cole Palmer and Chelsea have plenty of opportunity to make up for it, with 12 games still to play. Even with the draw, the Blues are just one point behind Manchester United in fourth, and the two sides still have to face off at Stamford Bridge on April 18.
With that in mind, Chelsea will be hoping to keep United within three points if they cannot leapfrog them in the meantime, Though, their bid to move up into fourth will be aided by the return of two players from injury,, with Tosin Adarabioyo and Filip Jorgensen both set to be available for the Premier League games that come after the cup clash with Hull, while the former could even make Friday night.
Liam Rosenior has confirmed: “Tosin trained fully for the first time on Wednesday, so this game might come a little bit too soon, but we'll make that judgment with the medical team.”
Rosenior added: “Filip's not fully fit at the moment. He's working really hard on his rehab. Teddy (Sharman-Lowe) has had a very important loan at this stage of his career and he's shown me really good things in training as well. So I've got no worries if we have to call upon him.”
Jorgensen is, of course, Chelsea’s back-up goalkeeper, but he is an important fall-back option in case of an injury to Robert Sanchez, while Tosin has seven Premier League starts, racking up 11 league appearances overall, and the centre-back plays an important role in the competition in Rosenior’s defence.
