Mikel Arteta will have to rely on his impactful players for the remainder of the season, but there are some injury problems. Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Mikel Merino are all dealing with injury problems at the moment.
Saka signed a new contract earlier this season, keeping him at Arsenal for several more years to come, one of his teammates could be the next to sign an extension.
Arsenal ‘talks ongoing’ for new Havertz deal
Kai Havertz is reportedly subject to contract talks to extend his deal at Arsenal, as the former Chelsea forward has become a key player for Arteta, especially due to their lack of consistent goal scorers.
According to Journalist Steve Kay on X, Arsenal are in talks to extend Havertz’s deal by one more year, which would see him stay at the Emirates until 2029. Kay posted: “Understand that contract talks between Arsenal and Kai Havertz over a one-year extension are ongoing and moving in a positive direction. The Germany international, currently tied to 2028, has become an important player for Arteta, with negotiations continuing constructively.”

Havertz has made 94 appearances for Arsenal since joining from Chelsea in 2023, he’s scored 31 goals, and provided 15 assists in that time.
Havertz could be out for a month
The Germany international recently returned to action after recovering from a long-term knee injury, and has since made a really good impact on Arteta’s side.
However, he has suffered a muscle injury, and is now not expected to return for up to a month, which is a huge blow in a crucial part of the season. It means he is going to miss games against Tottenham and Chelsea at least, which isn’t ideal for the Gunners.
