Will Luka Doncic play in NBA All-Star Game? His current injury status

Luka Doncic is sidelined with a left hamstring strain, and his participation in the 2026 NBA All-Star Game remains uncertain, though he's certainly expected to return after the break.

Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic continues to sit out games due to a hamstring injury, having missed four straight matchups before the All-Star break. His availability for the 2026 NBA All-Star Game in Los Angeles now remains questionable.

"He's progressed really good," coach JJ Redick said on Thursday. "I think part of him wanted to push to get back prior to the break, but we've got to be cautious with the soft tissue injuries. Obviously, we were very cautious with Austin [Reaves].

"You just saw what happened with Jalen Williams coming back. We all feel comfortable with the decision to hold him out, and he should be good to go post-All-Star."

When asked about Luka's chances of playing in the All-Star Game, Redick joked that it was "above his pay grade" to decide.

The 26-year-old Slovenian is sidelined with a left hamstring strain.

"He certainly has some motivation to get back on the court in time to play in the All-Star Game this weekend," ESPN's Dave McMenamin said.

Doncic injured his hamstring in the second quarter of last Thursday's 119-115 win over the Philadelphia 76ers and did not return.

This season, Doncic is averaging 32.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.6 assists per game.

Recently, Kevin Durant called out Luka and Nikola Jokic for their effort in the All-Star event. Luka has been selected for the sixth time, and he led fan votes in the Western Conference.
