Liverpool’s FA Cup caoaign continues under the Anfield lights this weekend as Brighton & Hove Albion arrive on Merseyside for a fourth‑round tie. With a place in the last 16 on the line, Arne Slot’s men know victory would not only maintain momentum but also secure their spot in Monday night’s fifth‑round draw.
Manager Arne Slot has already asserted that the FA Cup is one of the club’s objectives this season:
“We have 3 priorities, the FA Cup, qualifying for the Champions League and the Champions League but we have to consider the squad also.”
Whoever emerges from Liverpool vs Brighton will discover their next opponents just 48 hours later. The draw for the fifth round of this season’s Emirates FA Cup will be held on Monday evening, giving players and supporters only a brief pause before focus shifts to the last 16.
The draw is scheduled to take place live on TNT Sports on Monday, in the build-up to Macclesfield’s meeting with Brentford, which kicks off at 7.30pm GMT. Fans will therefore be able to watch the numbers come out just before that tie gets under way
Whoever progresses from Anfield will have a few weeks to prepare for their next step in the competition. Fifth-round matches are set to take place across the weekend of March 7/8, slotting into what promises to be an already busy period in Liverpool’s season.
That scheduling means the outcome of Saturday’s clash with Brighton could have a notable knock-on effect on fixture congestion and squad planning, but first and foremost, Liverpool simply need to make sure they are in Monday’s draw at all.
