Real Madrid defender Antonio Rüdiger will almost certainly play some minutes when Los Blancos host Real Sociedad this Saturday. The German center-back has recovered from the injury he picked up during the Spanish Supercup Semifinal against Atlético de Madrid in January and it looks like he could even compete for a starting spot when Real Madrid visit Benfica next week.
Considering that Raul Asencio has been playing through pain for a while now and that Dean Huijsen’s form hasn’t been all that encouraging in recent months, Rudiger definitely has a case to feature in the starting lineup.
The German defender is quite literally playing for a contract extension as well, as Real Madrid seem to have decided against giving him that new deal when his current contract expires next summer. Los Blancos could very well change their mind if Rudiger has a strong second half of the season.
