Eduardo Camavinga’s importance in Real Madrid’s plans has been unpredictable since he arrived at the club, both for rotational and fitness reasons.
The Frenchman, after all, was used irregularly and all over the field under Carlo Ancelotti, and seldom enjoyed stability where he shines the most – in midfield.
As relayed in a recent report by AS, however, he has regained his lost prominence this season, particularly under Alvaro Arbeloa for the new manager has heavily counted on him in his plans.
A special streak
Indeed, Camavinga has started in eight of Real Madrid’s ten games in 2026 and has been involved in every Real Madrid game since the win over Sevilla late in December.
He has played at full-back and midfield in that duration, particularly under Arbeloa in whose term he has started five of the team’s seven games and played a part in all seven. In fact, Real Madrid’s two defeats were precisely the games where he started on the bench.

The player has lacked such continuity for the past two years, and only played ten straight games for Real Madrid back in the beginning of 2024.
Should he play against Real Sociedad this weekend, he will take that figure to 11 games and earn his best run in terms of prominence in two years.
Further, Camavinga has now broken into the top 11 players at the club in terms of minutes this season. He has played 1361 minutes so far this season and is ahead of Eder Militao (1,272 minutes), Franco Mastantuono (1,170 minutes), and Rodrygo (1,071 minutes).
It thus remains to be seen how the midfielder’s prominence progresses in Real Madrid’s plans. While Federico Valverde’s return brings more competition, Jude Bellingham’s injury vacates another spot and it appears the player will hold on to his regular role for the time being.
