Liverpool’s reported interest in RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande has been held up by sources on Merseyside, though a move for the 19-year-old is not guaranteed.
Diomande has been a revelation in his first season at Leipzig, with eight goals and six assists in 23 games so far, and that has attracted widespread interest.
That includes Liverpool, who have been continually linked with the right winger, with reports fuelled by his own admission that he “wants to play” for the club.

Reports of interest from Anfield have largely come from Germany, most prominently Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg, but they have now been corroborated by Liverpool journalist David Lynch.
Speaking to Anfield Index, Lynch explained: “Diomande is definitely being watched really closely.
“That’s not to guarantee that they’ll go for him, but he’s definitely a player who’s on Liverpool’s radar. He’s on the radar of a lot of clubs.
“You can guarantee that he’s definitely being watched.
“Obviously the wing position is something Liverpool are eyeing now. I’d be surprised if this next summer passes without a winger being added.
“So he’s on that radar, but of course it’s kind of up to him now to keep the level going, to keep showing that he’s ready to make that jump.”
Why Liverpool could ‘go early’ to sign Yan Diomande
Leipzig are claimed to be seeking a fee of around €100 million (£87.2m) for a player they signed for a fifth of that from Girona only seven months ago.
That would clearly be a sticking point for Liverpool, but while in previous years his lack of experience would have gone against him in any decision to push for a move, Lynch argued that the club’s approach has now changed.
Evidence of that came with the £60 million deal for 20-year-old centre-back Jeremy Jacquet being agreed with Rennes this month.
“What you would have said a few years ago is he’s only 19 now, he’s not got very many games behind him at all, not a big record of production,” Lynch explained.

“But Liverpool are having to move earlier now, because everybody else is moving earlier.
“I think previously I would have said that he’s not ready now for Liverpool to spend big money on him, but it’s very hard to predict that these days.
“The whole approach is changed a little bit. They’re willing to go a little bit earlier.
“At the moment, watching him, keeping an eye on him, scouting him definitely. Whether it goes beyond that we’ll have to see.”
The Big Debate
Should Liverpool sign Yan Diomande this summer?
With reports confirming that Yan Diomande is “definitely” on the radar, Liverpool face a familiar dilemma. The 19-year-old has been a revelation at RB Leipzig, but his €100 million (£87.2m) price tag represents a massive investment for a player with less than a full season in Germany.
