Giants’ John Harbaugh discusses Trump endorsement following Ravens departure

After 18 years and 193 wins with the Baltimore Ravens, John Harbaugh’s sudden departure shocked the football world.

But perhaps nothing was more surprising than what happened next – a public endorsement from former President Donald Trump urging the Giants to hire him.

In a conversation with Brian Kilmeade on “Fox and Friends,” Harbaugh opens up about this unexpected political intersection and his passionate views on American patriotism.

“It did surprise me,” Harbaugh admits, via YouTube. “All of a sudden I started getting bing bing bing. My phone starts going off and there it is. It’s like man, okay, I guess that’s where he’s the president, you know. I guess that’s what we’re going to do.”

The endorsement came at a pivotal moment — right after Harbaugh’s tenure with the Ravens had ended and as he was considering his next move.

For a coach with nearly two decades at one organization, having the former President of the United States publicly weigh in on your career path is extraordinary.

When asked about his parents’ reaction to Trump’s endorsement, Harbaugh reveals: “They were fired up about it. I mean we loved it. We love meeting President Trump. We loved all of his group. It was it was awesome.”

When asked what people should keep in mind during America’s 250th birthday celebrations, Harbaugh delivered a passionate response that reveals the core of his values.

“Oh man. I mean, I think people should keep in mind that this is the greatest country and this is the greatest experiment in governing and the greatest experiment in society building that’s ever been attempted in the history of the world,” Harbaugh declares. “I mean, what this is about is never even comprehended in the history of the world until until 1776 when these founding fathers came up with this idea.”

While many sports figures carefully avoid political associations, Harbaugh approaches these topics with the same directness and authenticity that characterizes his coaching style.
