While New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye was just one vote away from being named the 2025 NFL MVP, his performance in the Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks has the NFL world further examining his play this season. Some of the underlying stats should concern Pats fan.
During the 2025 regular season, his second in the National Football League Drake Maye had a passer rating of 113.5 and completed 72% of his passes for 4,394 yards, 31 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.

Against teams with a winning record, however, Maye threw just two touchdowns passes — that’s good for 40th in the NFL (there are only 32 teams) and trails the likes of Cleveland Browns QB Dillon Gabriel, who had five.
Overall, against teams winning record this year (regular season and playoffs), Maye had 11 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, 64% completion percentage, 1,764 yards, and a 91 passer rating (this number does not reflect his five lost fumbles and three rushing touchdowns), resulting in a -6.6 cumulative EPA (Expected Points Added).
Comparatively, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, who won the MVP award, had 25 TDs, 3 turnovers, a 61% completiong percentage, 2,879 yards, 106 passer rating, and +100.5 cumulative EPA against winning teams.
Despite being the reigning AFC champions, the bookies don’t seem to be necessarily bullish on the Patriots’ chances of getting back to the Super Bowl next season, as their future odds of +1300 trails the Bufalo Bills and is tied with the Baltimore Ravens.
