John Harbaugh Responds To Endorsement From President Trump

New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh continues to prove that he's not afraid to tackle controversial subjects.

Before the Giants named Harbaugh their head coach, President Donald Trump urged them to get a deal done. He previously said every team with an opening at head coach should pursue Harbaugh once he was fired by the Baltimore Ravens.

"The New York Football Giants should hire, without question, John Harbaugh," the president wrote on Truth Social. "And John, a great guy, should TAKE THE JOB!!!"

During an appearance on "Fox and Friends" this Thursday, Harbaugh shared his initial reaction to Trump's message.

"It did surprise me," Harbaugh said. "All of a sudden I started getting bing bing bing. My phone starts going off and there it is. It's like man, okay, I guess that's where he's the president, you know. I guess that's what we're going to do."

The Super Bowl champion added that his parents were "fired up" about Trump's endorsement.

Harbaugh then discussed America's 250th birthday celebration during his interview with Brian Kilmeade.

"I think people should keep in mind that this is the greatest country and this is the greatest experiment in governing and the greatest experiment in society building that's ever been attempted in the history of the world," Harbaugh said, via NJ.com. "I mean, what this is about is never even comprehended in the history of the world until until 1776 when these founding fathers came up with this idea."

NFL fans torn on Harbaugh's comments.

"Nothing he said in this clip was political in either direction. Great answer and glad he's the coach of my football team," one fan wrote.

"NYG going full MAGA …….. and I love it," another fan said.

"Harbaugh waited til he was outta Baltimore to talk that MAGA stuff," a third fan commented.

"I'm so glad this dude ain't my head coach anymore cuz holy [expletive]," a social media user replied.

Harbaugh, 63, has not responded to any of this backlash. He's getting his coaching staff prepared for a pivotal offseason.
