£20m Chelsea target is now signing for Inter Milan instead, deal is agreed

After a quiet January, it is expected that Chelsea are going to be mighty busy again when it comes to the summer transfer window at the end of the season.

Only the return of Mamadou Sarr from his loan spell at Strasbourg saw any players join the first team squad during the January transfer window, despite the fact there were reportedly promises made to new manager Liam Rosenior.

Chelsea had made their intentions known early they were interested in signing Aleksandar Stankovic from Club Brugge at the end of the season.

Time for Mamadou Sarr to be given a try, or why else did we bring him back?

Something needs to change defensively!

His father, Dejan, has given his qualities the seal of approval, and being just 20 years of age he is a perfect candidate for a Chelsea signing in the modern era.

Chelsea miss out on signing Aleksandar Stankovic

However, journalist Marco Bazaghi has stated that the Blues are now going to miss out on this deal, with him instead headed to one of their Champions League rivals.

He said on his YouTube channel that Inter Milan have activated a buy-back clause to bring the young midfielder in this summer.

He said: “Aleksandar Stankovic. Our big scoop confirmed. We told you the decision had already been made by Inter: the buy-back clause will be activated at the beginning of July, €23 million that will be paid back to Club Brugge to bring him home.”

Chelsea are going to have to look elsewhere when it comes to a new midfielder in the summer, although they do have a number of names on their shortlist.

Chelsea eyeing Premier League duo in midfield

It has been reported that injury woes for Romeo Lavia and Dario Essugo have seen Chelsea consider entering the market again for a big-name midfielder.

What changes would you make to our XI?

Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton have emerged as serious targets for the Blues, with both surely looking to be on the move at the end of the season.

Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace are both enduring extremely underwhelming campaigns, and would represent a good form of income from a top Premier League side.

If Chelsea want to start to close this gap to the top sides, they need to make real statements in the transfer window, and Anderson and Wharton represent exactly this opportunity.
